How We Test

We buy every product with our own money, test it for at least 30 days, and re-test quarterly. Here's exactly how.

The 7-Step Process

1

We pay with our own money

No free trials, no sponsored test accounts. Every provider in our reviews is paid for by us, exactly like a real customer, so we see the same experience you would.

2

Uptime Monitoring (30+ days)

We monitor each service every minute for a minimum of 30 days from multiple global locations and record real end-to-end uptime, not the provider's advertised number.

3

Performance & Load Testing

We benchmark server response time, time-to-first-byte, and run synthetic load tests (stress tests) to see how the service behaves under real traffic — not just in an idle state.

4

Support Quality Check

We open real support tickets and live chats, measure response time, and evaluate whether the answer is actually helpful — not copy-pasted. We test on weekends and late at night too.

5

Security Check

We verify SSL certs, backup systems, and where relevant test DDoS protection behavior, firewall defaults, and account separation. Peace of mind matters more than gimmicks.

6

Pricing & Value Analysis

We record the real checkout price including renewals (where prices often jump), hidden add-ons, and compare value on an apples-to-apples basis. We flag renewal price shocks clearly.

7

Quarterly Re-Testing

Hosting changes fast. We re-run the key checks every quarter and update review scores, so a great review doesn't go stale after six months.

How We Score

Score Meaning
4.5 - 5.0Excellent. Top-tier value and reliability, almost no downsides.
4.0 - 4.4Very good. Solid and recommended, with minor drawbacks.
3.5 - 3.9Good. Workable but with notable caveats to weigh.
Below 3.5Disappointing. We do not recommend without strong reasons.

What we weigh most

For each provider we weight: Reliability & Uptime 25% · Performance 20% · Value for Money 20% · Support 15% · Features 12% · Ease of Use 8%. These weights reflect what independent users told us matters most, and they are the same for every provider so comparisons are fair.
